Betty Segock was born August 17, 1934 in Golovin, Alaska to Josephine Kalerak and Albert Johnson.

God called her home on August 28, 2018 from Quyanna Care in Nome.

She grew up in Solomon and persevered in her youth and throughout her life. She accomplished many goals and worked very hard. She graduated from Seward Skill Center taking Culinary Arts and finally completing her GED, all while working two part time jobs. Governor Jay Hammond at the time honored her with her achievements in Seward. She returned to Elim and worked as a cook at the school for many years. Betty never was late or missed a day.

She believed in God and through Him was blessed with a full life, she never took it for granted. She read the bible every morning even before her coffee and cooked many summers at Bible Camp. She was on City Council and Mt. Edgecumbe School Board as well.

Betty enjoyed camping, berry picking and gathering food for the winter. She did all this while raising her grandsons Larry and Dakota.

Although she aged, she stayed young in her heart, mind and soul, till the end of her days.

She is survived by her sister Mabel Murray, her sons Ralph and daughter-in-law Mary Segock, Albert (Tom) Nuglene; daughters Joni Segock and Leigh Ann Shoffner and her brother Clarence Waghiyi.

Betty was blessed with 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother Josephine Kalerak, father Albert Johnson, sisters Helen Davison, Kathleen Saccheus, brother James Murray Jr., sons David Murray and Merritt (Marty) Segock.
