Briar Dickson

Briar Dickson

May 30, 1995 ~ June 3, 2022

Briar Dickson was born to Mary Jane Wells and Robert “Son Son” Dickson on May 30, 1995.  He was the third youngest brother to Brigette, Brenna, Nicklas and Stephen.

Briar left us on June 3, 2022, in Anchorage at the age of 27.

Briar was extremely fond of the outdoors and could often be found fishing at the mouth of the Nome River, camping at Cape Wooley, Brevig Point and Fort Davis, and riding his ATV around town, at Chicken Hill, and dredges Swanberg, No. 5, and No. 6.

Briar could also be found playing basketball at Middle (WT) court, and KI court. He enjoyed playing any sort of pickup game with whoever was around. Briar found his love for basketball during Jr. High School, and this led to his joining the Nome-Beltz basketball team and playing throughout the remainder of his time in school, making the varsity team during his senior year.  Briar graduated from Nome-Beltz High School with honors in 2014.

Briar worked several jobs after high school, eventually meeting AngaLee Sampson, with whom he had his beautiful daughter Kastilyn.  Briar loved Kastilyn with all his heart.  He loved being around children, taking John and Cameron under his wing at a young age and helping raise them to become the men they’ve become today.

Briar is survived by his daughter Kastilyn Dickson-Sampson, grandmother Dorothy Dickson, mother Mary Jane Wells (Darren), father Robert “Son Son” Dickson (Pamela), sisters Brigette Dickson (Jon), and Brenna Dickson, brothers Nicklas Nilsson, and Stephen Ablowaluk, grandparents Mary and Joseph Kunnuk Sr. and stepsiblings Aina, Bo, and Erik Nilsson, and Tamara and Riley Ablowaluk.
