Evelyn Regine White
Our beloved mother passed on April 13, 2022 in the company of her children and caregivers at Aspen Creek Senior Living in Anchorage where she had lived for the previous two years.
Mom was born in Teller, Alaska on June 19, 1929 into a family of gold miners, N.B. Tweet & Sons. The first half of her life was spent in Teller assisting her mother in the operation of the North Star Mercantile Company General Store & Hotel, Teller Power & Light Company – which supplied electricity to half the community, the Teller Theater – a Quonset hut repurposed to show a 16mm movie every Friday night and worked for a short period as the Postmaster of Teller.
She and her immediate family moved to Anchorage in April of 1975 after a major flood caused substantial damage to most of the businesses in Teller and the family sold all assets to the Teller Commercial Company. The family remains in Anchorage to date.
Mom was very active in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and was a devout Catholic.
Mom was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Tweet, mother, Mary M. Monagle Tweet, husband C. Howard White, and sister Aileen Topkok. She is survived by her sons Richard (Michelle) and Todd (Dione), daughter Cynthia (Scott), grandchildren Quinn, Ava, Jake and Vance, brother Glenn Tweet (Sara), sister Phyllis Dickman (Orville), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sincere appreciation to Alaska Regional Senior Care, Providence Hospital, Aspen Creek Senior Living, and Ancora Home Health and Hospice for their care of mom.
Services will be held at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Parish at 3900 Wisconsin Street in Anchorage on Wednesday, April 20th. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm with a Catholic Funeral Mass beginning at 2. Burial will be at Angelus Memorial Cemetery on May 19th.
The family asks that memorial bequests be made to Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska and Hospice of Anchorage.
