Florence “Nuz” Doyle

August 27, 1924 – July 29, 2017

The matriarch of the Boone family, Florence B. “Nuz” Doyle, was born August 27, 1924, in Elim, Alaska. She was the third of six children born to Daniel and Ida Boone.

She died peacefully at her home in Golovin, Alaska on July 29, 2017, surrounded by loving family members. At 92-years-old, she expressed much love to everyone, young and old, by readily opening her arms to give and receive hugs.

Nuz attended Mission School to the eighth grade. Later, she went to Anchorage for teacher training and for numerous years she was an elementary Teacher’s Aide. In addition, she was trained in many capacities to help maintain the Golovin Day School. Throughout her lifetime she acquired several awards and recognitions. She was devoted to educating children in the classroom and out of the classroom.

Nuz’s joy was to go to Kitchavik, a campsite held in the family for many generations. It was an annual destination to hang fish for a winter supply and for family reunions. Family would unite to harvest, gather and share subsistence food. Most importantly, it would be a time to get together as a large extended family.

Nuz married Robert Klein and they had three daughters known as the Klein sisters: Roseanne, Sharon and Betty Jean. After his death she married Howard Lincoln and they adopted two children: DeAnn and Duane. She was also a foster parent to many children.

Nuz later married Allan Doyle, who brought eight additional adult children into her family: Bunny, Grant, Carole, Linda, Doug, Sharon, John and Cathleen. She also had many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren due to this union.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her late husbands, her siblings, nieces and nephews, her daughter Sharon Moseley, son-in-law Jerry DeWitt and son Grant Doyle.

Nuz is survived by her daughters Roseanne DeWitt (partner Ron Locke), her children Shane, Charley and Molly; Betty Jean Bains-Jordan (husband John), her children Peggy, Ginny and Willy; DeAnn Lincoln Moore (partner Brock Gardner), her children Gary and Jason; son Duane Lincoln, grandson Rick Johnsen (Sharon Moseley’s son) and son-in-law Paul Moseley and many great grand-children and great-great grandchildren, and by seven of her extended Doyle family.
