Sara Elizabeth Jeanes Stockton

Sara Elizabeth Jeanes Stockton, passed away on July 17, 2022, after battling metastatic breast cancer since 2018.

Sara was 39-years-old, the beloved daughter of Mark and Donna Stockton. She is preceded in death by both sets of her grandparents. Sara graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Russian Studies following a study abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia and a State Department internship in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She also graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a Master’s in Public Administration.

Sara and Wynton, her cherished rescued dog, relocated to Nome, Alaska. She lived in Bethel and Anchorage as well. Her most recent position was Social Services Program Coordinator for the State of Alaska Office of Children’s Services. Her heart felt mission was working to improve child welfare outcomes for the vulnerable children of Alaska. Sara will be fondly remembered for her infectious laugh, quick but sometimes irreverent wit and her generous and thoughtful spirit. Her lifelong interest was reading, especially history, traveling, adoption and animal rescue. She loved museums, art, photography, fashion, cooking, and caring for plants. Sara was wise beyond her years and an excellent conversationalist.

Sara is survived by her parents and brother Zack Stockton of Weatherford, TX and her beloved rescue dogs, Wynton, and Masha. Also, by her “family of the heart” Nathan, Lyric and baby Marnie Calhoun of Mineral Wells, TX and Ricay and Nisha Hefley of Durham, N.C. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins of both sides of the family and many dear friends in Texas, Alaska, and other parts of the world.

The memorial will be in Anchorage on Sunday July 24, 2022, at Evergreen Memorial Chapel at 1 p.m.

Private graveside service in Texas will take place on a later date. In lieu of flowers, Sara requested donations to: Radiating Hope Cancer Treatment Foundation https://www.radiatinghope.org/individual-donations.html, In honor of her amazing radiation Oncologist Dr. Larry Daugherty and Bethel Friends of Canines https://www.bethelfriendsofcanines.com/donate.html, Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter https://www.weatherfordtx.gov/Animal-Shelter.

Sara’s departure, far too early, from our lives leaves an emptiness and void that can only be filled by her family’s and friend’s cherished memories.
