Vesta Polson Sundstrom died May 9, 2021. She was 100-years-old.
She was born on August 18, 1920, in Nome, Alaska to Swedish immigrants, Albin and Jenny Polson. She grew up in Nome and graduated from high school there.

Vesta married Lloyd Sundstrom on June 28, 1941, in Alaska. She had three children, Ivan, Owen and Steven. 

As an adult, Vesta lived in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Nigeria and Arizona, spending the last 30 years of her life in Hillsboro, Oregon.

As her children got older, she attained a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and thereafter was a teacher until her retirement.

Vesta will be remembered for her love of reading, painting, traveling and supporting the Portland Trail Blazers. She was active in her church community at New Life Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Vesta was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Sundstrom and her son Ivan Sundstrom.

She is survived by her remaining sons and their wives, Owen and Rosalie Sundstrom and Steven and Joyce Sundstrom. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Bethany, Renee, Erik, Kevin, Jade, Nicholas and two great-grandchildren Avner and Ephraim.
